Mentorship of deaf and hearing secondary school students from 20 inclusive schools in Tanzania.
OSNET, the Organization for Special Needs Education Teachers in Tanzania is the leading partner organization in this project. With support from Kentalis, OSNET will setup Sign Language clubs in the 20 secondary inclusive schools with students with hearing loss. For the Sign Language clubs an arts competition will be held and students will be prepared for and engaged in public speaking, so that they can get an active citizenship role in future. Through this project we also aim at stimulating an encouraging attitude towards deaf learners.
Kentalis and AMUCTA college in Tabora provide interactive coaching to the special needs teachers and the regular teachers in these secondary schools. A pilot will be started to develop an learning environment which is conducive for deaf and hard-of-hearing learners in the Tanzanian context.
