The UN Convention for the Rights of Persons with a Disability (UNCRPD) is a guiding principle of our work. In particular, we focus on the rights of children and young adults to education and care and their right to be able to access services that are adapted to their specific needs.
What we do
- By sharing our expertise, we are contributing to the implementation of these rights, in close cooperation with governmental and non-governmental institutions. See on this website: Testimonials from Kenya.
- Via our memberships in the International Disability & Development Consortium (IDDC) and the Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development (DCDD) we help building a foundation of understanding, awareness, acceptance, equity and support in the field of hearing and communication.
- We share our international knowledge of a right based approach with our mother organization Royal Dutch Kentalis
Sustainable Development goals
In 2016, a great success for the rights of persons with disability was achieved at the UN: The post-2015 agenda on Sustainable Development Goals was approved. Thanks to the hard work of IDA and IDDC, a number of references to 'disability' were included in the document. The document 'Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development' will be the guiding UN document for international cooperation and thus also for Kentalis International.
