Study visit to Kentalis
For the last 4 years Kentalis has worked with the Archbishop Mihayo University College of Tabora (AMUCTA) in Tanzania on developing a Bachelor degree teacher training program on Inclusive Secondary Education for the hearing impaired. From the 7th till the 27th of January Mr. Ildephonce Mkama, one of AMUCTA’s senior lecturers will visit Kentalis in the Netherlands for a study visit as a preparation on his PhD study which he is going to start in South Africa.
In the second phase of the cooperation program with AMUCTA we will focus on sustainability and upscaling of the teacher training program. Expanding the knowledge of the staff is one of the key actions. Therefore Mr. Mkama got a scholarship to do a PhD study. Also two of AMUCTA’s best performing students were offered to do a Master in a related field of expertise. After this they will be employed by the University as teaching assistants. The AMUCTA bachelor program is very innovative and will help the Tanzanian education system to become more inclusive for hearing impaired students.
Mr. Mkama will visit some of the Kentalis schools to compare our methods with the Tanzanian educational situation and with the help of some Kentalis researchers he will develop his research proposal. We wish Mr. Mkama a fruitful stay in The Netherlands.
