Introduction to Deafness and Hearing Loss
The Deafness and Hearing Loss introductory course is designed to provide a better understanding of deafness and hearing loss to those interested. It was created for professionals in the Global South who have limited access to a reliable internet connection.
Our basic audiology training aims to help identify hearing impairments in children early on, as late diagnosis can negatively impact their school performance and prevent them from reaching their full potential. This introductory e-learning is suitable for anyone looking to learn or update their knowledge of the fundamentals of recognizing hearing loss and knowing the different screening methods.
Reading Method for Early Literacy
The Reading Method for Early Literacy course is designed for primary education teachers who work with students in grades 1-3. The course aims to equip educators with the skills to effectively teach reading to deaf and hard-of-hearing children, whose literacy development differs significantly from that of their hearing peers. It is based on the Kentalis model developed in the Netherlands.
Parents Awareness Workshop
The Parents Awareness Workshop informs parents of the importance of early childhood development and communication with their deaf or hard-of-hearing child. It is a Deaf-led course where we train community facilitators or social workers in how to deliver an interactive workshop that encourages particularly hearing parents to engage with their deaf child and overcome negative attitudes and stigma.
